The Cape gooseberry, popularly known as goldenberry, aguaymanto, Peruvian alquequenje or uvilla, grows in the tropical zones of South America, especially in countries like Colombia, Peru and Chile, especially in  los Ande mountain range at 2,500 m.

The cape gooseberry is a shrubby plant, which reaches a height of one meter and the branches, if well-maintained, reach two meters in length and their bell-shaped flowers are yellow. The fruit is a sphere of 2 cm in diameter, yellow, sweet and acid at the same time and with up to 300 seeds inside.

BENEFITS OF THE CAPE GOOSEBERRY

The leaves and fruits are used in infusions to help treat cancer, asthma, malaria, hepatitis, rheumatism and some skin diseases, such as dermatitis. It helps in the treatment of cataracts in the eyes. It helps fight tumors, mouth and throat conditions, diabetes and prostate problems.
